Experience 4 days of mountain biking on this guided tour through the Cape Winelands and back to Cape Town. The picturesque high mountains, lush forests, vineyards & beautiful coastline of the Indian & Atlantic Ocean, offer the perfect backdrop for our cycling adventure. Top this up with good food and wine and all the sights that the Cape has to offer.
Mountain biking in this area is world class and an abundance of purpose-built trails.
Day 1: Rhebokskloof & Spice Route MTB Trails (30-60 km)
Day 2: Jonkershoek Nature Reserve (10-45 km)
Day 3: Hoogekraal & Contermanskloof MTB Trails (20-40 km)
Day 4: Table Mountain National Park MTB Trails (15-45 km)
Gideon Maree has been cycling for over 18 years now. Wherever he goes his bike goes too and this has given him the opportunity to cycle all over South Africa. His passion for the routes in Cape Town took place when he finished his Honours Degree in Sport Science from Stellenbosch University. He completed the CATTHSETA Cultural Tour Guide course two years ago and the passion for sharing the cycling and sights of Cape Town has since then been unstoppable.
The tour starts off in the Cape Winelands, cycling from Spice Route to Rhebokskloof Wine Farm. Here we will have a great lunch followed by wine, beer and chocolate tasting. Le Bonheur Reptiles & Adventures will be visited to finish off the tour and head to our guest house in Stellenbosch.
On day two we will visit Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. The trails are fun and the views amazing. Afterwards we will head to the wine routes of Stellenbosch for wine tasting and lunch and a visit to Eagle Encounters.
My favorite trails will be cycled on day three. Contermanskloof and Hoogekraal has a combination of flowing single track with some technical routes in the mix. A well-deserved lunch will be enjoyed and we will head off to Cape Town for a visit to Camps bay beach to have fun on the beach and cocktails thereafter.
The last day is a cycle on the slopes of Table Mountain. The routes are mostly single track with some jeep track but its more about the views. On a clear day you can see all the way to Stellenbosch and the views over the city bowl and harbor is amazing. After the cycle we will head to Simons Town to visit the penguins of Boulders Beach and have lunch at one of the local seafood restaurants.
